It didn’t show up on the photo but it was snowing when we took this picture.  This was our first snow of the journey.  We also got our first glimpse of the snow-capped Rockies from a hilltop today.  We passed Las Animas but came back to stay with Brother Jerry Moritz, missionary to the Maasai in Kenya and interim pastor at First Baptist in town.

We got up this morning to Leda, Patsy and Royse at Lamar Christian Church preparing two casseroles plus two different kinds of cinnamon rolls.  We stuffed ourselves  and headed back to Hasty to continue our journey west.  It was very cold and windy and kept getting darker until finally the snow came.  Thank God it lasted but a few minutes and finally the sun came out much later in the day.  Its off to La Junta tomorrow and then the big strecth of empty plains.
